Corso, A. & al. 2012: "Only recently recognized as separate species, a long time confused with the supposedly unmistakable B. leucosticta (Burmeister, 1839). Therefore, all papers cited in the following text refer to the species as to leucosticta. The latter is not known to occur north of Sahara (Dijkstra & Matushkina, 2009). Previously unrecorded for the Pelagie or Pantelleria; found on Linosa, and again spotted on Monte Vulcano. Healthy populations of this species are found in central and Northern Tunisia and throughout southern Sicily and whole Sardinia."

Der Nördliche Kurzpfeil – Brachythemis impartita (Karsch 1890) – ist ein nordafrikanischer Faunenbestandteil, der sich allerdings Richtung Norden ausbreitet: Sizilien, Sardinien und die iberische Halbinsel wurden bereits erreicht, mittlerweile hat die Art auch das italienische Küstengebiet besiedelt. Die nordafrikanische Population wurde als eigene Art erkannt: Treuer Kurzpfeil – B. leucosticta (Burmeister 1839).
Männchen in Ruhestellung aus Uri Nähe Bacino del Cuga, Prov. Sassari, Sardinien.
Weibchen vom gleichen Fundort in Sardinien.
