Blaue Federlibelle

(from Boudot & al. 2009:89): it is a widespread European species, which is common in a large part of the Mediterrean. However, the species is rare in Iberia and confined to Catalonia. Two single records from the Levant are dated 1908, so that the species is probably extinct in this area. Old records from Crete have never been confirmed and have been omitted. The demarcation line between the nominal ssp and P. p. nitidula (Brullé) in the Balkans is only roughly known. Intermediate populations have been reported from various parts of Greece. P. p. nitidula is confined to the Cyclades and Ionian islands and to the Adriatic coast of Greece, Albania and Montenegro.

Die mit langen, feinen Härchen besetzten mittleren Beinschienen des zweiten und dritten Beinpaares gaben der Blauen Federlibelle ihren Namen (Platycnemis pennipes (Pallas 1771)). Sie kommt hauptsächlich in SO-Europa und Westasien vor, konnte sich allerdings nacheiszeitlich auch gegen Westen ausbreiten; in Mitteleuropa kommt sie an stehenden oder langsam fliessenden Gewässern vor. Abb. 1 zeigt das Männchen, Abb. 2 das Weibchen. Die ssp. nitidula zeigt die Abb. 3. In Frankreich kommt es zur Überlappung mit der Weissen Federlibelle, P. latipes.
