(from Boudot & al. 2009:196): Orthetrum taeniolatum is an Oriental species that occurs west to the eastern Mediterranean and the Red Sea shores. This small Orthetrum is mainly Asian in distribution and is replaced in Africa by its sister taxon O. kollmannpergi Buchholz, 1959. All North African records of O. taeniolatum need re-examination, including that from the Sudanese-Egyptian coast of the Red Sea.
Der Zierliche Blaupfeil, Orthetrum taeniolatum (Schneider 1845), ist eine asiatisch verbreitete Art und kommt östlich bis Tibet vor. De Knijf & Demolder (2013) berichten über die Art aus Kreta. Feulner & al. (2007) melden die Art als äusserst selten in Arabien. Die Art lebt in Küstennähe bewohnt allerdings auch Flüsse. Afrikanische Fundmeldungen sollen überarbeitet werden.
