Glänzende Binsenjungfer

(from Boudot & al. 2009:31): It is an holarctic species, which is largely restricted to mountainous areas in the southern parts of its range. In North-Africa it is confined to the Rif and Atlas ranges in Marocco, where the species reproduces in temporary wetlands that are inundated during winter and spring. It is extinct in Crete.
Maurizio Pavesi: "si vede bene il carattere differenziale tra L. sponsa e L. dryas; a parte l'addome più corto e tozzo, nel dryas l'estremità dell'ovopositore sorpassa leggermente quella dell'addome (appendici terminali escluse), mentre nello sponsa non la raggiunge."

Die Glänzende Binsenjungfer, Lestes dryas Kirby 1890, ist ein holarktische Art, die von der Iberischen Halbinsel bis weit nach Asien (Kosterin & al. 2001) und Nordamerika vorkommt. In Kirgisistan bis auf 1.200 Meter vorkommend und bodenständig (Schröter 2010). In Südeuropa lebt sie mitunter in zwei Generationen vor und bewohnt stehende Gewässer mit Binsenbestand. Schiel & Buchwald (2012) beschreiben die Parasitierung durch Milben von Exemplaren in Italien.
