(from Boudot & al. 2009:32): Lestes macrostigma is encountered at brackish waters, either continental or coastal. The species appears to be absent from North-Africa.

Die Dunkle Binsenjungfer, Lestes macrostigma (Eversmann 1836), kommt an Brackwasser von der Iberischen Halbinsel bis weit in den Osten vor (Meldungen aus Kirgisistan bei Schröter (2010)), fehlt aber in Nord-Afrika. De Knijf & Demolder (2013) melden die Art von Kreta. Sie leben in der Nähe von flachen und salzigen Seen, dort aber stellenweise häufig.
