Sahara-Pechlibelle

     (from Boudot & al. 2009:71): Ischnura saharensis is an endemic Saharan and sub-Saharan species, extending to the Macaronesian Islands in the west and to the eastern Libya in the east. It is very mobile and new rain pools in desert areas are quickly colonised. Records of a still unidentified Ischnura species from the Madeira archipelago have been mentioned by Selys & Hagen (1850) under "Agrion Maderae" (nom. nud.), and by Gardner (1963) misleadingly under I. senegalensis. Although all these specimens are lost today and hence are pending actual specification. Jaquemin & Boudot (1999) and Ferreira & al. (2006) suppose that they pertain most likely to I. saharensis.

Die Sahara-Pechlibelle, Ischnura saharensis Aguesse 1958, kommt auf den Kanaren, Madeira und in Nordafrika vor. Sie ist gegenüber ihrem Lebensraum anspruchslos und besiedelt jeglichen Gewässertyp, den sie vorfindet. Sie unterscheidet sich von der Grossen Pechlibelle kaum, ist von dieser aber geografisch getrennt.
