Somatochlora sahlbergi Trybom 1889 is a very rare species. Distribution: circumpolar. United States (Alaska), Canada, Russia, Finland, Sweden and Norway in tundra and alpine wetlands.

Very little is known about the status of this species. Although the population is large and there are no known current threats, it is an arctic species that may be threatened by the effects of future climate change (from IUCN).
