(from Boudot & al. 2009:61): Erythromma l. lindenii and E. l. zernyi Schmidt 1938 are two taxa that are assumed to have differenciated during the last glacial period as a result of geographical isolation. Their subsequent connection during the Holocene led to hybridization and assimilation of the Middle-Eastern E. l. zernyi by the nominal subspecies. Intermediate populations have been reported as "small islands" in several parts of the Middle-East and it is expected that E. l. zernyi will progressively disappear naturally with time.

Die Männchen der Pokaljungfer, Erythromma lindenii (Selys 1840), sind leuchtend hellblau gezeichnet. Die Augen sind auffallend blau. Die Art bewohnt klare vegetationsarme Gewässer mit keiner oder wenig Fliessgeschwindigkeit. Die Art ist übre das westliche Nordafrika über die Iberisch Halbinsel bis Kleinasien und den Nahen Osten verbreitet.
