(from Boudot & al. 2009:164): it is a reasonable common and widespread species across large parts of central and northern Europe. In the Mediterranean it is chiefly confined to the north with scattered populations in the southern parts of Italy, the Balkans and Turkey.

Die Gefleckte Mosaikjungfer, Somatochlora flavomaculata (Vander Linden 1825), kommt von Westfrankreich bis Sibirien (Kosterin & al. 2001) und die Mongolei vor. Man findet die Männchen oft weitab der Gewässer, etwa an Waldrändern, wo sie auf der Suche nach Partnerinnen patroullieren. Sie bevorzugen wärmebegünstigte Täler mit Flussauen. Die Gefährdung dieses Lebensraumes durch Rodungen, Aufforstungen, Flussbaumassnahmen (Energiegewinnung, Begradigung) usw ist auch diese Libelle gefährdet.
