Grosser Blaupfeil

Der Große Blaupfeil, Orthetrum cancellatum (Linnaeus 1758), gehört zu den Segellibellen (Libellulidae). Er kommt an grösseren besonnten Gewässern (Weiher oder See) vor – die Ufer sollten nicht zugewachsen sein. Männchen patroullieren immer an der selben Flugstrecke in der Nähe des Ufers und setzen sich gerne zum Sonnen auf Holz, Kies oder Steine. Die Art ist euro-westasiatisch verbreitet. Nach Corso & al. (2012) kommt die Art auf Malta und Gozo vor. Schröter (2010) meldet die Art aus Kirgisistan. Die Weibchen sind gelb-schwarz gefärbt. Im südlichen Mitteleuropa kann man den Südlichen Blaupfeil beobachten, der allerdings das Abdomen gänzlich und rundum blau bereift hat.
